The Luxury of Time

Despite being the most radical races of them all, the human race is much of a paradoxical paradigm to me. To men, wasting money is somehow more hurtful than wasting time, even though we are well aware that while money can come back, time cannot. Yes, that is us: mankind, progressive yet utterly ludicrous. Money can’t buy time, but hey, money can buy you a timeless watch, to help keep your time and style quotient in check.

Quoting the fashion king himself, Tom Ford once said, “Dressing well is a form of good manners”. Well, to the several men out there, restricted by the conformities of a masculine wardrobe, a watch, more than any other accessory or item of clothing, can be a window into a man’s personality.

With the timepiece industry having reached its absolute zenith, one is often drowned in a sea of absolutely timeless pieces. A travel through time, here are some of my all-time favourites from the world of luxury watches. The recently launched A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Tourbillon Handwerkskunst, vintage made in today’s time, this watch voices the epitome of a gentleman. With the contrast of the most masculine shades all coming together in one extraordinary palette, this beauty is sure to give the others a run for their money. Pair it with a well-aged single malt and some good conversation, you surely will be recognised as the most timeless mister in the room. Absolutely jaded from seeing countless men flash their all gold Rolex day after day, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Rose Gold is a true stunner and something rather novel and unique for all-gold lovers.

“You never actually own a Patek Phillipe. You merely look after it for the next generation”. Very rightly said, you can no ever go wrong with a Patek Phillipe, after you wear it, you go on to share it. An investment for the now, and the forever, it can’t really get any better.

Something very handsome about those who can pull things off with immense ease, Roger Dubuis is for the man with effortless style. The Excalibur is just about perfection when you want to make a style statement, yet maintain your subtlety and casualness. If you are a believer of less is more, and don’t fancy false glimmer, yet want an iota of inimitable luxurious design, the Arnold and Son HM Perpetual Moon is just what you need for your minimalistic style. In addition, the moon on your wrist could also be a reminder of gravitational forces and that no matter how extravagant your life gets, you must stay down to earth.

You can tell a lot about a man simply from his choice of a timepiece, so choose wisely, because while we first make our choices, our choices then make us.
